Swim safety has always been a core value of A3 Performance. Beyond fostering a love for the sport in young athletes, we strongly believe that the ability to swim should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their location or socioeconomic background.

Unfortunately, drowning remains a leading, preventable risk for children in the US – especially in underserved communities with limited access to pools and resources. That’s why we’re committed to supporting swim schools and organizations that prioritize accessible swim safety for young swimmers.

One way we do that is by teaming up with No More Under, a nonprofit water-safety organization committed to providing free and low-cost access to swim lessons, education, and lifesaving tools for families, regardless of their financial or demographic backgrounds. Through their Swim Safely Series, they’ve worked with more than 250 collegiate swimmers across several states to provide education to over 500 children, totalling more than 2500 swim lessons already, and their work is rapidly expanding.

To minimize the financial barrier some families face , A3 is proud to provide custom caps and goggles for each child in their program. Our hope is to not only equip the swimmers with the gear they need, but also give them confidence to thrive in swim lessons and beyond.

No More Under’s work changes lives. Here is just a snapshot of the results from their recent programs at Colorado State University, University of Puget Sound, Pacific Lutheran University, and the University of Illinois Chicago:

  • 215 kids, ages 5-16, received free swim lessons

  • 77% had never had a formal swim lesson before

  • Diversity and representation:

    • 81% identified as BIPOC

    • 39% Hispanic/Latinx

    • 28.5% Black or African American

    • 6 languages represented across programs

  • 153 college athletes volunteered across these four programs

These programs don’t just impact the individual children enrolled, they also break a generational cycle. Of these participants, 75% of their parents had never received formal swim lessons. Through this work, No More Under is helping to establish long-term swim safety within these communities and beyond.

This important work is ongoing, and through the end of June, No More Under is running a fundraiser to expand access to their Swim Safely Series. If you’d like to help contribute to their efforts, here’s a link to their fundraiser.

By partnering with No More Under, we hope to play a small part in helping kids feel seen, supported, and empowered the moment they step on the pool deck. At our core, A3 believes that the swim community is stronger, faster, and more powerful when every child has a chance to learn, grow, and stay safe in the water.
