Once you get comfortable using a snorkel in your training, you’ll find yourself more balanced, more connected to your stroke, and more aware of how your body moves through the water. Beginner Snorkel Set
A simple, effective set to help you master alignment, control, and confidence with your snorkel.
8 x 25: No Interval (Take your time!)
- 2 x 25 Kick on stomach, arms at side: Focus on head position and steady breathing through the snorkel.
- 2 x 25 Kick on stomach, arms extended: Lightly scull or keep arms still. Maintain the same head and body position from the previous 25s.
- 2 x 25 Catch-up drill: Complete one arm stroke at a time, starting and finishing with both arms out front. Focus on rotation through the shoulders and hips while keeping your head still.
- 2 x 25 Build: Gradually increase kick and stroke tempo. Keep your head relaxed, eyes down, and body rotation strong.
6 x 50: No Interval (Take your time!)
Descend two sets of 3 x 50s, swimming the second set faster than the first. These 50s are perfect for getting comfortable with flip turns using the snorkel. Focus on staying relaxed, maintaining a long, straight line through the water, and experimenting with tempo.
Pro Tip: Flip turns with a snorkel take practice. Don’t inhale going into the turn. Use your exhale to clear the tube as you break out. After a few reps, it’ll feel natural!
